Starting a FOOT Scheme in Your Area

If you want to start up the FOOT scheme in your area there are a few things that are worth considering:

  1. Is there a need for additional undergraduate teaching by Junior Doctors?
  2. Do the Undergraduates have time to fit FOOT sessions in between their scheduled teaching?
  3. Starting up the scheme can require a lot of work; is there anyone who can help you?
  4. Are the hospital and undergraduate coordinators on board as you will require their cooperation? We find this is the commonest reasons that schemes fail, so it is worth engaging them before starting the scheme
  5. Finally... We've been doing this for 6 years now so we're pretty used to the hurdles that you face, which is why we have people dedicated to helping you set up and grow the scheme in your hospital and even set up your own regional FOOT scheme ultimately
